# Conversion funnels > Chain the steps of a conversion together and see exactly where people drop off - from landing to signup to paid. Source: https://oakdata.co/docs/using/funnels --- A **funnel** lays the steps of a conversion end to end - landing page, signup, checkout, paid - and shows how many people make it from one step to the next. The big drops are where you're losing people, and where a fix pays off most. Visited pricing3,120 · 100%Started checkout1,310 · 42%Completed purchase562 · 18%58% drop off here Each bar is a step. The gap between two bars is the drop-off between them. ## Building one ### Add your steps in order Pick the events that make up the journey - each step is an [event](https://oakdata.co/docs/using/events) (a pageview, a custom event, or a goal). Order them the way a visitor moves through them. ### Read the drop-off Each bar shows how many visitors reached that step and the percentage of the previous one. The steepest gap is your biggest opportunity. ### Segment to find the cause Apply [filters](https://oakdata.co/docs/using/filters) - by country, device, or referrer - to see whether the drop hits everyone or just one segment. Mobile checkout failing? The funnel will show it. > **From funnel to replay** When a step leaks more than you expect, jump to the [session replays](https://oakdata.co/docs/using/replay) of visitors who dropped there and watch what went wrong - the fastest path from a number to a cause. ## Where to next - [Events & goals](https://oakdata.co/docs/using/events) - Define the steps your funnel is built from. - [Session replay](https://oakdata.co/docs/using/replay) - See why people leave at a given step.
